Bride-to-be and dad murdered

SEREMBAN: She was a 23-year-old looking forward to her wedding this Saturday. Instead, shocked friends and relatives will be attending her funeral – and that of her father’s.

Police, who believe jealousy might be the motive, are now hot on the heels of a former boyfriend.

Kasturi Doraisamy and her father were hacked to death at their home in Taman Tuanku Ampuan Najihah near here early yesterday.

Kasturi was to have married a policeman this Saturday.

Her body, with slash wounds to her head, neck and arms, was found in a room on the second floor of a low-cost terrace house. Several of her fingers were also severed.

Her father Doraisamy Munian, 52, was found in another room on the same floor. He was also hacked on the neck and hands. His right arm was almost severed.

“Nothing was taken from the house. At this point, we feel that jealousy was the motive for the attack,” said state police deputy chief Datuk Abdul Manan Md Hassan.

He said the slash wounds on the arms suggested both had probably tried to ward off the attacks.

Doraisamy was a chicken seller while Kasturi worked at a chicken processing plant in Senawang. Kasturi’s fiance was based at the district police station here.

Neighbours described how the household had been abuzz with activities as the wedding day approached.

Abdul Manan said a neighbour had heard a woman’s scream from the house at about 3.50am, but she thought nothing about it and went back to sleep.

“Only when Kasturi’s older sister arrived in the afternoon from Kuala Lumpur were the bodies found,” he said.

Kogilavani, 26, became suspicious when no one came to the door despite her repeated calls. The porch light was still switched on and the grille was slightly ajar.

“Even the wooden door was unlocked. She became hysterical when she saw blood stains everywhere upon entering the house,” said Abdul Manan.

Neighbours rushed to the house upon hearing her screams. They called the police.

Abdul Manan added that there were also no signs of forced entry into the house.

The bodies have been sent to the Tuanku Ja’afar hospital for post-mortem.
